The City Museum of Wadowice is located in a tenement house from the late 19th century. It is a special place where visitors can learn about history and tradition of Wadowice. The first floor holds a permanent exhibition titled „Wadowice – The City Where It All Began”. The first room of the exhibition is fully dedicated to the history of the city – from the first mentions, up until 1918. Among many other exhibits, you will find: maps of the Duchies of Zator and of Oświęcim from 16th and 17th century, a 16th century foundation document for the Wadowice church, and, one of the few in Poland, treasury of a Jewish burial society. The next room tells the story of schools in prewar Wadowice and their education system ‘straight from the Galician era’, which was changing alongside the growth of the Second Polish Republic. The following exhibition space is related to the social and economic life of the 1920s and 1930s, when Plac Józefa Piłsudskiego – the market square – was the “heart of the city”. The forth room is devoted to the athletes and artists who developed their talents in the “Sokół” (Eng. “Falcon”) Gymnastic Society as well as to the people connected to Emil Zegadłowicz. The last room combines a typical city room with a workshop space, where visitors can partake in many activities – for example, affixing a wax seal, trying on clothes stylized for the interwar period, or attempting calligraphy with a goose feather. In addition to modern technological solutions and multimedia, the exhibition is enriched by additional content: guidebooks in several languages and 14 variants of postcards, each with unique photos and interesting facts about the city’s history.

The cost of guide services offered by the City Museum:
in Polish: PLN 280 up to two hours of sightseeing – every next hour: PLN 140
in English: PLN 200 one hour of sightseeing
To book a guide tour of Wadowice the GUIDE SERVICE BOOKING FORM needs to be filled out and emailed to muzeum@wck.wadowice.pl
ATTENTION: one group can have up to a maximum of 55 persons. In the case of having a bigger group, please make sure to book multiple guides
Please make sure to inform us by phone about any delay in your arrival at least an hour before the booked service performance time.
In the case of a wish to cancel the guide service, the buyer is required to inform about it at least 1 day before the date of the service’s performance.
Otherwise, the buyer is obliged to pay a cancelation fee of PLN 50.
